Fredericksburg is the number one place to visit in Texas. Ok, I just made that up but it should be! It has so much to offer! The actual town is awesome but there are so many cool places (like restaurants and wineries) within a 20 minute drive. This is a list of my favorite places in Fredericksburg! Please know that this is NOT a comprehensive list of things to do, places to eat, or wineries to sip at. This is just the places that I have fallen in love with!
Restaurants to DEFINITELY check out:
- For a date night or nicer dinner – check out Cabernet Grill. They have an amazing wine selection. Appetizer – Texas Twinkies. Meal – strip steak. Side – street corn. Dessert – anything or the Frozen Adventure Flight. Make a reservation. The outdoor seating area is absolutely beautiful! They even have accommodations! Ask for Rebecca to make wine suggestions! Their wine selection is first class!

- For a more casual dinner – check our Hilltop Cafe.
- For a lunch – check our Alamo Springs Cafe, Sozial Haus, and Woerner Warehouse
Shopping:
- Rustlin’ Robs is a really cool place. They sell jams, candied everything, pickled everything, hot sauce, and so much more. Go hungry because they have tons of samples out!
- Black Chalk Home and Laundry is an eclectic spot with pieces that will be your favorite things in your home!
- Savy E’s Boutique – tucked away behind Fiesta Winery you will find a trendy, inexpensive boutique!
Places to stay:
- Stay at Ololo – One word comes to mind when I think of Ololo: SANCTUARY. It is peaceful and cozy. The owners have truly created something special! There are 4 cabins and each one sleeps 2. Each cabin has its own hot tub and outdoor shower….so romantic! They are all uniquely, beautifully decorated! There is so much attention to detail but, yet, not overdone. I felt connected to this place from the moment we arrived. There’s just something so special in the air!

- Tipsy Peach Haus – this place is a spa-like retreat! Huge swimming pool perfect for exercising or lounging. There’s also lots of outdoor living spaces! The sunsets at the overlook will take your breath away! Oh and did I mention there’s also a barn that they rent out separately! This is not your average barn! It’s straight out of a magazine!

Wineries- there are TONS of wineries around Fredericksburg. This is not a comprehensive list! These are just my favorite!
- Becker Vineyards – the grounds of this vineyard are stunning. Seriously looks like you are in Italy! It’s not just the grounds that will have you enchanted, it’s also the wine! The Tempranillo is my favorite! Oh and check out their lavender field! Their wine club is one of the best I’ve seen. You’ll definitely want to look at it. It would make the perfect gift! Also, they have areas at their vineyard that are for “wine club” members only. It is evident that the owners, the Beckers, are passionate about wine and creating masterpieces for Texans (and others) to enjoy!
- Pontotoc Vineyard – the actually vineyard is in the town Pontotoc but their tasting room is in the main area of Fredericksburg. They have the cutest courtyard with beautiful shade trees. My favorite wine was the San Fernando Academy! Also, you’ll want to order their basket full of homemade goodies. The brownie and pimento cheese are the stuff dreams are made of! Don’t get me started on their sangria!! It’s so so delicious! The perfect drink year-round. It doesn’t taste like any other sangria I have ever had. It’s so unique! Ok, I’ll stop!

- Lost Draw Cellars – There are so many good wines made by Lost Draw! I’m not going to pick a favorite but I”ll give you my top 3: 2017 Reserve Roussanne, 2019 Counoise Rose, and the 2016 Zinfandel. They also have a really cool tasting room and courtyard. They have a great setup for live music! Also, many of their grapes are grown “down the street” from where I live. So cool! They use 100% Texas grown grapes. Lastly, (but most importantly) they have tons of connections to Texas Tech and several of the owners (and family) are RED RAIDERS! It’s such a fun place!
